Chickpea Lentil Burger with Sriracha Ranch Dressing

This recipe is great because you can make the burger mixture ahead of time and all you have to do is put the burgers in the oven when you get home. The Sriracha ranch dressing adds a nice spiciness to this, sure to please, family meal.

Serve it with a salad or soup or just on its own!

Serves 6-8 people


Chickpea Lentil Burger

1/4 cup lentils, rinsed

1/4 cup quinoa, rinsed

1 1/2 cups water

1/2 cup beadcrumbs

1 540ml can chickpeas

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 cup green or red pepper, finely chopped

3/4 cup celery, finely chopped

1 tsp salt

pepper to taste

Sriracha Ranch Dressing

1 egg yolk

1 tbsp water

juice of 1 lemon

1 tsp dijon mustard

2 tbsp Sriracha

1 tsp onion powder

1 tbsp fresh parsley

1 tbsp fresh chives

1 tsp fresh dill

1 cup avocado oil

1 tsp salt

pepper to taste


Place the lentils and quinoa in a pot with the water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until the lentils are cooked.

In a food processor, combine the bread crumbs, chickpeas, onion, celery and green pepper. Pulse until desired consistency adding 1 tsp of water if needed.

Transfer the chickpea mixture to a large bowl and stir in the lentils and quinoa. Mix well and adjust seasoning as desired. Form into patties and place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Baked in a preheated 350 degree oven for 20 - 25 minutes until lightly golden and heated through.


Add all of the ingredients to a food processor and process until well blended or add ingredients to a large rimmed glass jar and process with a hand held immersion blender.

Serve the burgers on a bun or lettuce leaf with the Sriracha dressing or condiments or your choice.
