Sweet Potato Shepherd's Pie

Growing up, traditional Shepherd's Pie was a regular occurrence at the dinner table.

My mom use to cook the meat with onion soup mix which was delicious but very high in salt and preservatives. This is a little healthier version that should make everyone happy!

Ingredients serves 4-6 people For the topping: 4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces 3 tbsp coconut oil 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper For the filling: 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil 2 large carrots, diced 2 celery stalks, sliced 1 medium onion, chopped 1 tsp salt 2 garlic cloves, minced 3/4 tsp ground chipotle pepper 1/2 tsp dried oregano 1/2 tsp cumin 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1 pound ground chicken or turkey 1 cup chicken broth
